Excellent

Student is present at every class meeting, or provides reasonable excuse for missing o more than 1 class.
Good

Student is absent the 1-2 classes and provides reasonable excuses.
Fair

Student is absent for 1- 2 classes and does not provide reasonable excuses.
Poor

Student is absent for 3 or more weeks of class.
PUNCTUALITY

Excellent

Student is on time regularly or early for class.
Good

Student is usually on time or early (one or two latenesses).
Fair

Student is sometimes on time (three or four latenesses).
Poor

Student is often late, four or more times.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR

Excellent

Student brings original thought and persepctive to discussion. Maintains active involvement throughout semester. Laptop and phone use is relevant to course materials.
Good

Student sometimes asks questions, and participates in discussions. Laptop and phone use is relevant to course materials.
Fair

Student rarely participates in class, struggles with discussions. Comments are often uninformed and rely on personal taste. Occasional laptop and phone use is relevant to course materials.
Poor

Student never participates in class, does not participate in discussions. Comments, when offered, are often uninformed and rely on personal taste. Laptop and phone use is not relevant to course materials.
